Features and Benefits
The ioGAS software contains the following key features and benefits:
In Built Knowledge
The philosophy behind ioGAS tools is to capture the geochemical and mineralogical knowledge of experts and transfer it to industry professionals through easy to use tools.
Streamlined Data Import
Import data into ioGAS from a variety of source formats including Excel, Text, CSV, GML and Innov-X Portable XRF machines.
Use our comprehensive validation tools to replace zeros with nulls, convert '-' and '<' data to positive half value or custom value, replace > and text entries with custom value, identify samples that have valid values for all of the selected variables and identify duplicate samples ID's quickly so that you can get on with your analysis. All changes to data recorded in log file for easy viewing.
Match imported field names to defined element/unit combinations and co-ordinate fields with ease using ioGAS' 'guessing' logic. Aliased data allows automatic units correction prior to plotting and performing calculations. Transfer your data into ioGAS rapidly.
Dynamic Summary Statistics, Frequency Tables & Correlation Matrix
Selectable summary statistics reports that respond dynamically to parameter selection, data visibility, data grouping and multivariate or univariate modes, ie summary stats for all available data within the selected elements or restricted to where there is valid data for an entire row for each selected element.
Use frequency tables to validate data and as a dynamic tool that responds to visibility. Determine which lab/batch/geol unit, etc contributes most to problematic data interactively using selection tools. Copy the results to the clipboard for use in reports, presentations and spreadsheets.
Display classical (Pearson's) and Spearman Rank correlation matrix values in tabular format for selected variables with links to scatterplot view.
Dynamic Linked Graphic Environment
Vary size, shape and colour of points independently and update them live across all displays based on selections and attributes within your data. Render groups of data visible and invisible on-the-fly. Keep track of your changes with an automatically updating legend. Save attribute (size, shape, colour) schemes and apply them to new data.
Available Graphs
Plot data in XY scatterplots, probability plots, ternary plots, pie charts, histograms, line plots, box plots, scatterplot matrix, 3D spin plot, parallel coordinate and spider plots.
Depending on the plot type ioGAS provides standard zooming and panning tools, axis scaling using raw, logged or power transformed values, lock/unlock zoomed axes and data selection tools.
Data Levelling
Level data by text attributes (geology, regolith, analytical method, fraction, laboratory batch) to remove artefacts from the data and reveal anomalies that would otherwise be masked. Methods available include mean, median, Z-score, gauss, percentile with log/power transformation versions where appropriate.
Thematic Data Visualisation
Display located data in a geographical "pseudo map" view. X and Y axes scaled at 1:1 with data points attributed using colour, shape and size parameters. Ranked variable maps display a single variable with a selected colour scheme and size ramp applied.
Automatically make thematic maps that identify outliers. Use red/green/blue colour addition to determine spatial relationships between three elements simultaneously to determine zonation patterns.
Gridding and Imaging
Use a gridding and imaging algorithm optimised for geochemical data to produce the best possible representation of your data with a couple of mouse clicks. Colouring and shading schemes are designed to extract the maximum amount of useful information possible. Export the imagery as Geotiff image or ER Mapper grid outputs for direct registered import into Mapinfo, ArcGIS, Google Earth Pro etc.
Classification Diagrams
ioGAS contains a suite of inbuilt diagrams for rocktype classification, alteration vectoring, diamond indicator minerals, regolith and water chemistry. Apply reference polygon labels to size, shape and/or colour attributes. Write classifications to data file for export.
Diagrams automatically cater for element/units/oxide conversions and mathematical expressions. Update diagrams supplied by ioGlobal over the net with a simple mouse click. Create your own diagrams comprising polygons, polylines, lines and point features. Generate polygons from point density contours or colour attribute groups. Share in-house developed diagrams using simple text files.
Mineral Compositions
Display minerals and groups of minerals on your diagrams. Mineral nodes are automatically projected regardless of oxide/element/unit of geochemical variables displayed. Select all minerals in a mineral group or specific minerals within groups and maintain the selection between work sessions.
Point Density
Display coloured point density regions on XY and YX scatter plots, Scatter Plot Matrix (SPLOM) and Ternary plots. Visually determine where most of the data in a plot is concentrated. Control point density parameters including grid cell size, smoothing, threshold level, colour scheme and opacity. Extract contoured point density regions and use in classification diagrams.
Spider and Parallel Coordinate Plots
Spider and parallel coordinate plots allow visualisation of multi-element signatures associated with anomalies and group attributes. The plots respond to visibility, with colour, shape and size attributes represented at all point locations. Samples are selectable; individual sample traces may be turned on and off, cycle between individual modes and statistical summary traces by colour group.
Robust Outlier Detection
Use Mahalanobis Distance calculations with multivariate data to determine how atypical a sample is taking into account correlations between variables. ioGAS also supports "robust" versions of these statistical measures which minimise the impact of outliers, thereby enhancing the method’s ability to detect anomalies. The calculated data may be used to create plots, maps and images.
We also provide robust and usual version of Principal Components Analysis. Save PCA score calculation parameters so that PCA results can be applied to other datasets.
Calculations
Use the in-built calculation libary or select from a range of commonly used calculations in our Quick Calculation menu. Create and save multivariate or univariate calculations which can be accessed or shared with other users. Element/Oxide/Unit and molar conversions automatically calculated. Write calculated column data to file for export.
Google Earth Export
Output attribute maps and ranked variable maps to Google Earth and view the points in spatial context exactly as they are attributed within ioGAS. Share results from ioGAS with colleagues by producing a portable Google Earth *.KMZ file.
